Curriculum Vitae – Arno Vredenborg PhD

Profile

I am a high-tech product manager (hardware & software) and physical‑chemistry scientist with extensive experience in both academic research and industrial product development. Curious and solution-oriented, with a passion for nature, science and technology. I enjoy thinking about how things can be made smarter, more beautiful, or more practical. As an optimist, I look ahead and enjoy life — preferably in the company of the people I care about and in places that inspire me.

Current employment

Software Product Owner – Thermo Fisher Scientific, Eindhoven (2020 – present)

Thesis : Coincidence electron and ion imaging of femtosecond laser induced dynamics in atoms and molecules

My promotion research focused on the fundamental processes of atmospheric molecules. Most of the time I spent building an entirely new laboratory with a femtosecond laser setup for time‑resolved spectroscopy and a coincidence electron and ion microscope. This microscope was capable of simultaneous detection of an electron and its corresponding ion. The detection of electrons and ions occurred in three dimensions, allowing the complete energy balance after photo‑absorption to be determined. It also made it possible to obtain the angular distribution of both particles, which lets you determine electron emission in the molecular frame.

Education

Master Physical Chemistry (cum laude) – Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam (1999 – 2004)

My master major project in physical chemistry was focussed on spectroscopy of NO2 and I did a minor research project in organic chemistry.

VWO – Amstelveen College, Amstelveen (1993 – 1999)

Reached the sixth place in the national chemistry olympiad.
